The 2018 UCCS Theatre Company's Main Stage Production is a devised work based on Henrik Ibsen's famous play Peer Gynt. Our intent is to create a work of spectacle, with puppetry, masks, avatars and silhouettes. There will be dancers, musicians, and actors bringing the world of Ibsen to life. The design process is at once collaborative and exploratory, terrifying, and exhilarating.

Costume Design
How do you design a show that has been done so often? That is so iconic that everyone has a pic in their mind about how the show looks? It helps to have a director who envisions the narrative of the play, with its political, cultural, and social messages, as explicitly current. We did approach certain elements with an historical appreciation for the temporal aesthetic, but did not constrain the aesthetic to only be relevant to 1930s Weimar Germany.

Costume Design Award
It is without a doubt an amazing and humble experience to have your work recognized. The Pikes Peak Arts Council Award (PPAC) for costume design for my 2014-2015 season meant so much. Mostly because the season was epic in reach for me creatively: from fairy tales to 1960s-esque camp to simulated tattoos to the absurdity of Beckett.
